Introducing BookSpotter Enhancement Engine by Sztaki

What is BookSpotter EE

As you can guess from its name, BookSpotter Enhancement Engine by Sztaki tries to find book occurrences in the processed content. To do that, right now it relies on the downloadable data sets of the British National Bibliography (BNB) and The Open Library (OL). However, it could use potentially every catalog which title list is downloadable. Once BookSpotter finds something, it will insert an entity to the analysis result that points to the correspondig catalog item on BNB or OL. Continue Reading →

Creating Enhancement Engines for Stanbol 0.10.0-incubating using NetBeans 7.1.2

In this tutorial I will describe the steps to follow for getting started with writing Enhancement Engines (EE) for Stanbol 0.10.0-incubating. In general, writing an EE for Stanbol is quite easy, once you know about some important details about maven, OSGI, and Apache Felix – the aim of this document is to share you that details.
For the essentials on Enhancement Chains and Engines, please read:

UIMA-Apache Stanbol Integration

This is the documentation page of the UIMA-Stanbol integration project I have introduced in a blog post on IKS blog: https://blog.iks-project.eu/uima-apache-stanbol-integration/

For details read the blog post; the bottom line is that the UIMA analysis engine, that is a generation older than the Stanbol engine is well worth integrating to Stanbol. By the integration we can enable many publicly available UIMA analysis engines for every Stanbol user, and at the same time we can provide a path for non-public UIMA deployments e.g. at companies to start using Stanbol on the top of their infrastructure. Create.js hackathon in Berlin

Last week we at IKS organized a two-day hackathon for developers interested in Create.js, VIE, and in new tools for editing websites semantically.

The original agenda for the event can be found from the event’s wiki page, and I believe we got it covered quite well. I’ve been to quite a lot of hackfests, and usually the first day is mostly spent by people arriving, figuring out the WiFi setup, and getting to know the development tools. This time was different: people jumped straight into the code and started working. Continue Reading →
